Google Earth VR review
Google Earth is the project that was started by Google almost 20 years ago, in June 2011. The project’s goal is to render the Earth images that were taken from the satellite. It is available on the number of platforms: macOS, Google Chrome, Android, iOS, Microsoft Windows, and Linux. With the spreading of VR across the world, Google released the app’s virtual reality version in November 2016. Now, it is only available on the Microsoft Windows platform. The app is completely free and you can download it on Steam.
Google Eart VR has excellent and high-quality graphics that are always updated by the developers. It accurately transmits city streets, highlands, or desert. Even if you have never been to any place after trying Google Earth VR, you can no longer say so. Due to its realism and accuracy, the app is often used in schools in geography classes. You can zoom in and out the images. One secret, if you will zoom out too much, you will even be able to see the Earth from the space. The minimum requirement for the graphic card is Nvidia GeForce GTX 970, AMD Radeon R9 Fury, but it is recommended to use at least Nvidia GeForce GTX 980 or even better. As for the sounds, they are absent.
Google Earth VR is compatible with the three headsets: HTC Vive, Valve Index, and Oculus Rift. Also, you will need the tracked motion controllers. The app uses not so many commands, therefore it will be very easy to remember. Moreover, the main and common patterns, for example, zoom, are repeated from other apps.
The main goal of Google Earth VR is to allow everybody to explore the world and visit new countries standing in the room. The opportunities are almost endless: you can walk near the Grand Canyon, stand on the top of Eiffel Towel, or even fly above Tokyo city. Also, each user can even see the whole Earth from the space. The images are realistic as they were taken from the satellites. Google Earth VR is a free app, but the interface is only available in English.
Unfortunately, the application is only available on Microsoft Windows. But, believe us, you will want to turn on Google Earth VR again and again. You can not even imagine how many interesting and extremely beautiful places our world has. In fact, we continue to play this app even after the tested period was ended. Moreover, it is a great opportunity to fly into Paris, for example, during the upcoming weekend. The fact that the app is completely free even increases the level of lasting appeal.
Travel In Your Bedroom
Google Earth VR is an excellent project by Google. The non-VR version is available on numerous platforms, including browser and mobile. However, the VR version is only available on the Microsoft Windows platform. You can download it for free on Steam. Google Earth VR is compatible with three virtual reality helmets. Using it, you can travel the world without leaving the bedroom. Also, Google Earth VR is widely used in the school during the geography lessons. The only disadvantage is that the interface is only available in English.
