Half-Life: Alyx review
Half-Life: Alyx review
Half-Life: Alyx is a horror shooter game that revolves around the time between the two official Half-Life parts. Involved in a ruthless battle against a malevolent alien race, you get a chance to explore a different timeline where mankind is on a brink of extinction. Become the last guard standing between them and us!
With its gruesome, surreal settings, the game brings you to a world where the Earth has been invaded by aliens aiming at enslaving humanity. You, as one of the brightest minds still alive, have to act quickly by exploring the surroundings, fighting the invaders, and coming up with a plan that might just save the world. For this, you will have to follow the plot, learn more about the alien race’s origins, and find help from other survivors.
Here, you can interact with the environment like never before. Everything, starting from a simple bottle to handy teleports, can be used, modified, and utilized as a weapon. Apart from this, you have to solve mind-bending puzzles and devise machines to help your community live through another day. Don’t hesitate to run for your life when a mutant-looking monster comes around or think of a way to deal with it.
Half-Life is known for its ambition to be as close to VR as possible. In this part, both the environment and characters look impressively realistic, which only makes the game even more involving. Well-depicted surroundings with their gloomy, doomsday-looking settings, constantly changing weather, and distant whispers give you creeps right away. If you use ultra settings, you’ll be able to explore the world to its fullest.
Replay Value 4/5
Basing their visit on decade-long experience, the developers have ensured that the game is to be as involving as Half-Life can be. The visuals, graphics, and sounds will let you immerse yourself, making you want to play with each detail; whereas the design and in-game features will keep you company even when you’re stuck in the entangled plot lines.
While playing the game, you might get carried away by the mechanics and plasticity of controls. Not only can you interact freely with most of the environment, including bottle-throwing, button pressing, etc., but you can also use them for your advantage. Made for PC, using a mouse and a keyboard will be the best in-game control option; however, you’re not limited by them.
Half-Life: Alyx is a game truly worth playing not only for the genre fans but even for amateur enthusiasts.
